Test Certificates and the Woolclasser

From January 01, 2008 the IWTO regulations defining Wool Preparation Category on a Test Certificate were modified to reflect the status of woolclassing.

From January 01, 2008

  • Wool prepared by a Registered Woolclasser on farm, and meets/exceeds the preparation principals in the Code of Practice, will be assigned a Wool Preparation Category of “P”.
  • Wool that is not prepared by a registered Woolclasser, or wool that fails the preparation principles in the Code of Practice will be assigned a Wool Preparation Category of “D”.

Test certificates with a Wool Preparation Category of “D” are ineligible to be combined in an OML certificate (M). “D” Certificate lots may be combined only in a Combination Certificate type “J”.

From July 01, 2008

  • Classing House (“Broker”) stencils are no longer able to be applied to wool that is not prepared on farm by a registered Classer. This practice is known as Seller Inspected.
